So This morning I followed the instructions on the Magento forums and actually managed to set up Magento on Nginx this was surprising as most things on the forums need tweaking to work bu this worked straight out of the box!!

Now I need to find some performance tools to compare speeds on the 2 sites and decide if I want to take the plunge!
